3 What is MLA? 1. MLA means Modern Language Association. 2. The “rule book” or style manual for writing papers for English classes.

4 Works Cited definition Works Cited is the MLA term for the last page in a research paper with the list of all sources used. Other styles call the Works Cited page the Bibliography. Example double spaced: Works Cited Hall, Bernice. Science of Food. Atlanta: Smith Publishing, 2002. Lucas, Edward. “Healthy Snacks.” Health 16 July 2001: 51-60. Murphy, Chris. Popcorn: A Healthy Alternative. Chicago: Merrill 2000.

6 A. Log on to Research Databases 1. Go to the Yorba Linda Library website 2. Click on the Online Services Icon 3. Type in your username and password: Username: library card # Password: last 4 digits phone # 4. Click on the Biography tab 5. Click on Biography in Context 6. Type the name of your person in the search box.

7 B. Find Information 1. Skim the article list to select the best articles. 2. Within the article use CONTROL (CNTR) F for finding key words within the summary or article. 3. Copy & paste notes or the article, download or email yourself notes or the article.

8 C. Save Information Effectively 1. Copy & paste notes or the article, download or email yourself notes or the article. 2. Title & save all documents in your W and/or flash drive. 3. Click Citation Tools. Download MLA 7 th. Copy and paste to Word.

9 Saving a Word document to your W drive: 1.Click on the Word icon on your desktop 2.Click File on the menu bar 3.Click Save As 4.Click My Computer 5.Click on your name at the bottom that has a W after it. This is called your W drive on campus. 6.Name your file and save it in your W drive. Demonstration: Saving to W drive from Word
