1. Instructional Seminars Glenwood Middle School Gifted And Talented Program

2. What are Instructional Seminars? Middle School G/T Resource Teachers provide instruction for interested students in a wide variety of interest areas.

3. Why Do We Offer Instructional Seminars? We want you to have the opportunity to find your passion and be a member of a group of students who share that passion and explore your areas of interest and to learn advanced- level skills in that field. These opportunities engage students and extend and enrich their educational experiences.

4. Who Can Be Involved? Students DO NOT have be in the content area GT classes to be considered for Instructional Seminars. All students are welcome to come in and try something that interests them.

5. When Do We Meet? Students will be scheduled during the school day. Students will miss no more than 2 classes PER seminar, from the same subject per quarter. Students are responsible for making up all missed work and letting the teacher know you will be missing their class at least a day before

6. Do We Get a Schedule? Each seminar will receive a schedule made out by Ms. Storr. Ms. Storr sends the list of participants and schedules out to all the teachers so they know when and who will be missing. It is still your responsibility to talk to the teacher before and after your seminar to get anything you may have missed.

7. When Do We Go To Our Meetings? When you receive your schedule you will want to write all the days into your agenda book, so you know when the meeting times are. Your schedule is your pass to come to the GT room. On your assigned day, you will come directly to your seminar BEFORE you go to your regular class. Ms. Storr will send you back 5 minutes early to get what you missed for that day.

8. How Many Can I Sign Up For? Students may only participate in 2 instructional seminars with the exception of Writer's Guild, Book Club, and Philosophy, which meet less times per quarter than the other seminars.

9. How Do I Sign Up? All students interested in Instructional Seminars will need to fill out an application. Applications are available in the file box next to the “What’s In Storr” board at the end of the 6 th Grade hallway. You also can get the applications on line off Ms. Storr’s website at: http://glenwoodgt.weebly.com

10. Where Do I Turn My Application In? Applications can be turned in at the “What’s in Storr Board” in the DROP OFF BOX. Instructional Seminars fill up quickly so get them in ASAP.

11. When Are Applications Due? All applications are due Friday September 18 th. Applications CAN NOT be emailed. You must make the effort to turn them in yourself.

12. Will I Automatically Get In If my Application Is On Time? Some offerings are too large to accept all students so it will be on a first come, first serve basis, but I do my best to accommodate everyone. You can not have any C’s, D’s, or E’s on your report card/interim report.
