2 Key Information What is it? –A contest to find the best Android 2.2+ application to enhance the lives of users who are ageing and/or disabled. –http://developer.vodafone.com/smartaccess2011 (TBC - not live at moment)http://developer.vodafone.com/smartaccess2011 When is it? –Internal planning starts April 2011 –Competition announced on June 14 th 2011 –Competition ends in November/December 2011 Who runs it? –Vodafone Foundation, Vodafone Group Developer Marketing, Vodafone Public Policy –European Disability Forum (EDF) and AGE Platform (AGE) supporting content creation and relationship with finalists and winners The total prize fund of €200k –1 winners per category (4) –Social participation –Independent living –Mobility –Wellbeing

3 Objectives Supporting objectives: –Promote the Vodafone Shop and boutique applications –Identify potential acquisitions and investments –Opportunity to create differentiators for local markets for resale –Maximise PR opportunity –Vodafone developer positioned as championing innovation and a trusted partner for developers –Vodafone Foundation continuing to support worthwhile causes –Raise awareness and shape the industry around this increasingly important segment within the mobile apps space –Accelerate innovation in Mobile Internet worldwide –Ultimately driving up data usage –Deepen partnerships with local developer communities –including local Mobile Monday chapters and grassroots developer communities Champion innovation and stimulate the development of innovative applications for disabled and ageing users and to highlight the potential of mobile smartphone technology to significantly improve their lives.

4 Vodafone Smart Access Submission process Submissions will be made through the developer site which will host all the content required including terms and conditions, press releases etc.

5 Selection Process First Jury Round in progress –Filtering of all entries by Vodafone, EDF, AGE –Agree on 3 finalists per category to go to the final based on following criteria: –Effectiveness: does it help to overcome everyday obstacles? –Availability: how many people can it help across which markets and does it comply with Vodafone T&Cs? –Ease of use, delivery and installation –Multi-functionality: does it help to support multiple disabilities? Final Jury Round –Jury comprising of Vodafone Group, Foundation, EDF, AGE and media partner –10 min pitches + 5 min Q&A from each finalist –Winner chosen live at event 4 50? 100? 12 Two rounds, 1 winner across 4 categories

6 Budget Model EDF+ AGE €50k AGE + EDF: PM fee €200k Prize Fund Total Cost: €290k €40k PR (media partner), logistics (video crew, travel, accommodation Testing devices, UE web design work) €250k FOUNDATION €40k PUBLIC POLICY /PR

7 Roles & Responsibilities Vodafone Foundation, Group and Public Policy –Web site infrastructure, overall project management, planning & co-ordination –Online, local press, promotion and announcements –Flights (and accommodation?) for finalists and winners –Video crew to cover the event –Initial filtering of entries –Jury member selection –Supply of devices for testing AGE and EDF –Initial filtering of entries –Manage prize fund for winners –Provide SPOCS to generate content for Vodafone developer and contest is being run Jury members –Mixture of local and global members, review and select best entries at final Media partners –Provide coverage of competition with key focus on Brussels and throughout duration of contest Group // Public Policy // Foundation // EDF // AGE // Jury // Media partners
