Inspiring Generations Through Culture Part 1: RESEARCH

Through using the internet and the media center, students will identify how different groups of people use music within their cultures. Objective

Students will be given class time to utilize the media center to research under my supervision. Students will research provided websites and books to identify how culture can be defined through music. I will divide the class into 5 groups, assigning each group a specific culture to research. At the end of the 5 class periods, each group will provide a portion to their total class video documentary. Approach (HOW)

Students will be required to use NoteStar to take and organize their notes. They will answer 5 essential questions that will be submitted on the class Wiki at the end of each class period. Flash Drives can also be used.NoteStar Who: Who is involved in the music? What: What tools, instruments, dress are used? Where: Where is the music taking place? When: When do they perform this music? Why: Why are they performing the music? Organization and note taking (STORE)

Students will be given 5 class periods total to research, process and organize their information. At the end of the first four class periods, students will have 1 week to put together a movie using their class Wiki. After that week, students will have one class period to finalize their project. 2 class periods to research and take notes on their websites. 2 class periods to organize and process their information. 1 class period to finalize their completed project. Time Management

By the end of this project, students will have made a movie depicting the way culture is represented through music. Each group will contribute the following items to the movie: Pictures Videos Who/What/Where/When/Why information. Product
