3 SOLIDWORKS Software Will use EXTENSIVELY in Project #2 in lab Can obtain student license if in INDR B42 (?)  INDR courses are valuable in & of themselves  Extra software a bonus Veterans  Can obtain student edition for $20  Typically costs >$150 for students) There more with their own license the better  Limited laptop availability in SE-45  Want more people gaining familiarity with software 3

5 Review: Engineering Disciplines Grading in Progress Presentation Feedback  Reading off the screen  Start a conversation, not a lecture  Larger fonts, fewer words, more pictures Report Feedback  PDFs better  Be consistent with footnotes Removed from body text Use MS Word features built-in 5

9 LED Booklight Presentations Next Monday & Tuesday in your lab Schedule  30-40 minutes: last minute prep  10-15 minutes per presentation Bring PowerPoint file on USB (as backup, even if using Prezi as first choice) Will take volunteers day of Presentation  LOTS OF PICTURES  Tell a story  What tradeoffs decisions were there? (Why did you choose what you chose?)  What did it look like at the beginning? (Compared to the end?)  What were the roadblocks? How did you overcome? 9 Less for formal than Engineering Disciplines. Tell a good story. Help your peers learn.

12 Know Thyself Where does your time go? How do you learn best? With whom do you work well? (and not so well?) Why do you want to be an engineer? What would most likely cause you to fail? How will you avoid it? Over the next 2-3 weeks you’ll think about these things and then give me some answers 12
