Welcome to Day #3 Today we are going to learn about: 1.Key Learning Targets 2.Key Learning Assessments 3.Intervention & Exploration Advisory Period

Turn to pages 4 & 5 in your agenda. The Intervention & Exploration Advisory Period is explained on these two pages.

Key Learning Targets (KLT) What every student should know or be able to do after three weeks of instruction. Based on the Common Core Standards for the subject. The same for every student in your grade level and subject area. Posted and/or announced by the teacher at the start of the lesson.

No matter which teacher you have, everybody shows understanding of the KLTs in the same way – with a common test, quiz, project, presentation, or piece of writing.

Every three weeks, students have the chance to “catch up,” or have fun in a different sort of learning experience.

If you learned what you needed to in the three week cycle - YAHOO! If you didn’t, don’t worry, we’re going to give you another chance… …that is what intervention is all about – another opportunity to “get it.”

Homework is about: * Practicing what you learned in class * Preparing for what you are going to learn in class; and/or * Working on research or a long term project – like a piece of writing, or a presentation. If you don’t get it done at home, you could end up in Study Hall.
