The Asset Excellence solutions is one of the three key components that comprise the VigilantPlant Operational Excellence model. Safety Excellence prevents catastrophic failures and ensures HSE protection. Asset Excellence secures asset availability and utilization. Upon the firm foundation of safe and available plant, Production Excellence enables operational agility and adaptability. The life cycle perspective is firmly embedded in all three. A recent survey of maintenance management effectiveness in U.S. revealed that: Maintenance costs can represent between 15 and 60% of the cost of goods produced One-third of all maintenance costs is wasted as the result of unnecessary or improperly carried out maintenance U.S. industry spends more than $200 billion each year on maintenance of plant equipment and facilities The result of ineffective maintenance management represents a loss of more than $60 billion each year The immediate connotation of the Asset Excellence message may probably be maintenance management, so let’s check a few background data. The Maintenance Personnel Priority Maintenance optimization for maximum plant uptime The third stage is “Asset Predictability”, which is achieved by the contribution of recent advances in online monitoring and predictive diagnosis technologies. The main beneficiary of asset monitoring and diagnosis solutions is Maintenance Personnel at large, who are responsible for maintenance optimization for maximum plant uptime. Meanwhile, the Operator also benefits from Asset Predictability, if the right information is channeled to the Operator to facilitate first line of defense against performance deterioration and catastrophic failure. The positioning of PRM Operation Maintenance Plant Floor Our key platform for asset predictability is PRM. Before talking about our direction with PRM, let’s first put its position into perspective. For a plant to operate optimally and produce the right amount of on-spec products in a cost competitive manner, both Operation and Maintenance must do their respective jobs right. Operation uses the plant assets kept in good condition by Maintenance. In other words, Maintenance ensures asset availability so that Operations can achieve maximum asset utilization and profitable plant operations. Automation solutions in the past were primarily concerned with the Operation side. DCS and other advanced solutions have enabled our customers to highly automate their operations. The key technology on this side is of course Control. Meanwhile, a number of promising new technologies have emerged in the past decade or so which are opening up new possibilities for automating the Maintenance side. The positioning of PRM Dashboard Solution Maintenance Engineer Cxx Board Operator Process Data Server Device Master Operation Maintenance Control System Control Diagnostics Applying this framework to our solutions helps to clarify the positioning of PRM. PRM occupies this position on the ride side, serving the Maintenance needs as an integrated plant asset management platform. This position is roughly equivalent to Exaquantum as PIMS on the left side, serving the Operations needs as an integrated process data server. Core Integrated Maintenance Platform Online Maintenance Core Predictive Diagnostics Core Device status viewing Advanced Diagnostics Maintenance Information Management Maintenance Alarm Audit Trail Tuning, Adjustment & Calibration Therefore PRM is the flagship software package in the Asset Maintenance area. PRM is designed to cover every functionality necessary to optimize plant maintenance work. Here you might also want to note that FieldMate is an off-line and handy tool for Field Technicians and Field Operators. PRM is online and provides centralized solutions for maintenance management. The core of PRM is “Device Master Database”. Once a device is defined on PRM, its information such as device name, model name, supplier name, the parameters, etc are recorded as “Device Master” record. Moreover dynamic information like maintenance history, audit trail record, alarm history, etc are also recorded. And PRM expands its capability to device diagnostics area. Once a device diagnostics is defined, the diagnostic data, alert, predictive alarm etc are supported by PRM. So far PRM covers only automation assets such as field instruments and valves. In the future PRM will expand its capability to production assets such as rotating and reciprocating machinery, as well as discreet automation devices such as MCC. Furthermore, process units such as heat exchanger, boiler, etc will be supported by the same “Device Master Database” manner followed by some diagnostics. Asset Excellence - vision & roadmap

Some of the integration and data exchange implied in this slide require more work, but this is the way we’d like to build the capabilities of PRM. Asset Excellence - vision & roadmap

Condition based maintenance leveraging predictive intelligence of diagnostics technologies is much more effective in both minimizing maintenance costs and maximizing plant uptime as compared to time based preventive maintenance, not to mention run-to-failure breakdown maintenance. Now, diagnosis itself can be classified into a few different levels. Device Diagnostics are very basic. All devices must have the capability to diagnose their own health. More challenging but also more valuable are Process Interface Diagnostics, such as ILBD, steam trace diagnostics, and so on. Yokogawa is working on a number of such Process Interface Diagnostics, as will be explained in more detail in the PRM session later. Yokogawa is also working on the next level, developing Loop & Equipment Diagnostics solutions in cooperation with key customers. For this level, we will be using the new and powerful PRM Advanced Diagnostics Application environment which will be released with PRM R3.0 Down the road we also envision Performance Diagnostics using model-based technologies. To do so, PRM must have the capability to channel the right alarms to the right people. Urgent process-related alarms detected by PRM should be handled by the Board Operator. Alarms related to field devices should be notified to the Field Operator. And if the alarms are from predictive diagnostics, that is, not exactly alarms but predictive alerts, they should be handled by the Maintenance Personnel. FieldMate and PRM will be available as very good tools for the customer; however not all customers will be able to use these tools to their full benefits on their own. Many customers will introduce the tools but only use their basic functions in a very limited manner, not knowing how to fully utilize the tools for continuous improvement of their asset performance. That’s where Yokogawa service can add value, offering consultancy and value added services to help customers improve their asset performance using these innovative tools. CENTUM CS 3000 & PRM Plant Resource Manager Operators and Maintenance Personnel (OPC) Collaboration with: VIP Initiative an open non-exclusive standard-based interoperability-driven partnership Open Standards (FDT&EDDL) Field Instruments Control Valves Condition Monitoring For control valves, we have launched the Vigilant Integration Partners Initiative, VIP for short, which enables open, non-exclusive, standard-based and interoperability-driven alliances with leading control valve suppliers. The initial VIP member companies are Dresser, Flowserve, Metso and Samson, all agreed to participate in the FDT Group. For production assets such as compressors, pumps, motors, etc., we have already started a collaboration work with GE Energy, the leading supplier of condition monitoring solutions for rotating and reciprocating equipment. The first step is to ensure smooth data exchange between our PRM and their Bently Nevada System 1 platforms. Here again, we will use open standard such as OPC. Furthermore, we ensure integration of our plant-level asset management solutions with best-in-class business level asset management solutions such as SAP and MAXIMO.
