Objectives 11-13 11 -Make qualitative and quantitative observations
12 - Distinguish between an observation and an inference 13 -Distinguish between an independent and dependent variable
2
Types of Observations Quantitative - notes how many.
5 days, 6 legs, 10 fingers Qualitative - description other than a number. color, taste smell
3
Observation vs. Inference
Observation - act of noticing something Inference - conclusion based on an observation
4
Example of an Inference
Observations it has six legs it is green it has three body parts it has 2 wings
5
Example of an Inference
Observations it has six legs it is small it has three body parts it has 2 wings inference = It is an insect
