Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Contains: propane (C 3 H 8 ) and butane (C 4 H 10 ) Uses: heating, cooking, vehicle fuel

Kerosene Contains: Mixture of hydrocarbons with 6 to 16 carbon atoms per molecule Uses: aircraft fuel, lamps

Lubricating oils Contains: Mixture of hydrocarbons with 18 to 34 carbon atoms per molecule Uses: engine oil, hydraulic fluid, other machinery – for lubrication and heat transfer

Heavy fuel oils Contains: long-chain hydrocarbons including alkanes, cycloalkanes and aromatics Uses: industrial boilers, power stations, steam turbines

Bitumen Contains: what’s left after everything else is removed from crude oil – a wide range of very large hydrocarbons and other compounds Uses: road construction, roof waterproofing

Waxes Contains: by-products of the refining process Uses: candles, electrical insulation, waterproof coverings, food containers
