2. Living Things respond Stimulus – anything that causes some change in an organism. –Example: Sun giving energy to a plant. Response – the way an organism reacts to a stimulus, often results in movement –Example: A plant leaning towards the Sun Homeostasis – maintaining the proper conditions inside an organism. - Example: A normal body temperature of 98.6 degrees

4. Living things grow and develop –Growth of many – celled organisms is due to an increase in the number of cells. Example: Growing 4 inches over the summer –Growth of one – celled organisms is due to an increase in size of the cell. –Development – changes that take place during the life of an organism Example: A puppy is less clumsy after one year –Living things reproduce Example: A cat having kittens
