Benchmarks The things we use to estimate length, weight or capacity are called benchmarks.

Length Benchmarks Millimeter- The width of a dime.
Centimeter- The length of a paper clip. Inch- The bend in your pointer finger. Foot- A floor tile Yard- From the floor to the doorknob.

Meter- The length from the tip of your finger to your opposite shoulder. Kilometer- A little more than half a mile Mile- Fifteen football fields

Weight Benchmarks Ounce- a feather Gram- a dime Pound- a box of sugar
Kilogram- a two liter of coke

Teaspoon- a spoon full Cup- a coffee cup full Pint – a small carton of ice cream
