3 Vincent Van Gogh What types of LINES did he use in his portrait? What could he be trying to communicate? His use of color is also important, what can we gather from looking at this portrait?

4 Alex Katz What do you think about the lines in his artwork? What are some differences between these portraits and those of Van Gogh? He is renowned for his figurative paintings, which examine the nature of representing the three- dimensional world on canvas in simplified portraits. Can these be created in a different way?

5 Andy Warhol What is the main focus of his portraits? Do you think he was trying to send a message through his use of color? Warhol paints Marilyn Monroe because she is the typical icon of the "glamorous women". Every female portrait he completed was in the same format which included emphasis on lipstick, eye shadow and frozen camera smile.

6 Roy Lichtenstein What is the first thing you think of when you see this portrait? What types of LINES did he use? Is it similar to our portraits, why or why not?
