2 Quiz on Syllabus and Procedures 1.Where do you hand in assignments? 2.If you arrive in class after the bell has rung but not more than 7 minutes…what do you do? 3.What do you do if you are absent? 4.Where can you find markers and colored pencils? 5.Where is the weeks information for your class located in the classroom? 6.If you need to go to the bathroom, what is the procedure? 7.Can you eat or chew gum in our classroom? Explain. 8.Where can you find the rulers, scissors, glue sticks, stapler, etc. for students to use? 9.If you are caught using a cell phone or IPod what will be the consequences?

5 5 Themes of Geography Location- identifies a place’s position on Earth –Absolute location- measured by the grid lines-latitude & longitude –Relative location- place in relation to another. Places- looks for distinctive characteristics Regions- looks for features shared by places- vegetation, political, languages, religion, etc. Movement- examines the changing location of people, goods, and ideas Human/environment interaction- explores the interdependence of people and their surroundings.

6 Geography TODAY AT A GLANCE 1.Please open your book to page 1 World History and geography. 2.We will be using pages A1 through 11 to answer the questions on the BASIC GEOGRAPHY REVIEW QUIZ. 3.You can use the maps to CREATE YOUR map OF THE WORLD.

7 Tuesday 8/12/14 RAP- WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND GEOGRAPHY ALONG WITH HISTORY? Today: 1.Geography review quiz – turn in 2.Work on your World map.
