MLA MLA stands for The Modern Language Association Founded in 1883 Sets the global academic standard

Does every field use MLA? No. Formatting styles vary by field. MLA: Arts, humanities Chicago/Turabian: social sciences, history, political science AP: journalism APA: social sciences, nursing CSE/CBE: biology AMA: medical

Q: But what is MLA style? A: MLA formatting is simply the way your paper looks. Refer to page 621 in your Harbrace College Handbook

MLA is... 1” margins on all four sides Double-spaced entire document A title A four-line heading on the first page only Proper page numbering (Smith 1, 2, 3, etc.) Professional font choice 11-12 point-sized type Includes a works cited (don’t worry about yet) Cites inside the text in a specific way (don’t worry about this yet)
