Introduction I have chosen the topic on the history of the invention of the microwave oven. I picked the microwave oven because I was curious to learn more about this invention that I use it in my everyday life. This was the very first idea I had thought of to do my project on.

Discovering the microwave oven The microwave oven was invented as an accidental by-product of World War 2 radar research using magnetrons, a type of electromagnetic radiation. In 1946, the engineer Dr. Percy LeBaron Spencer, was working with magnetrons. He had a candy bar in his pocket, and saw that it had melted. He noticed that the microwaves had caused it to melt. After experimenting, he realized that microwaves could cook foods even faster than conventional ovens

The inventor and creator The microwave oven was invented in1946 by dr. Percy lebaron. The first domestic microwave oven was produced in 1967 by Amana.

Functions The microwave oven consists of a magnetron tube, which converts electricity into high frequency microwaves. Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic energy, like light waves or radio waves, and occupy a part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Microwaves cause food molecules to vibrate rapidly, creating friction that produces heat which then cooks the food.

The popularity By 1975, sales of microwave ovens exceed the gas range prices. Soon after microwave ovens were in kitchens in over nine million homes, or about 14%, of all the homes in the United States. In 1976, the microwave oven became more popular and common reaching nearly 60%, or about 52 million U.S. households.

Areas of interaction Human ingenuity The area of interaction would be human ingenuity because this invention has helped make lives easier for people everywhere all over the world. Microwaves are a very convenient way to prepare a wide Varity of foods that uses less energy than the regular oven

summary The microwave oven was invented in1946 by dr. Percy lebaron. The first domestic microwave oven was produced in 1967 by Amana. The microwave was discovered by accident during the use of magnetrons in world war 2. By the 70’s people were finding the benefits of the microwave to outweigh the risk and microwaves soon became a necessary house hold item. The microwave works by using light or radio waves to cause food molecules to vibrate rapidly, creating friction that produces heat which then cooks the food

conclusion The microwave oven was a very beneficial inventions that has help make life easier for people everywhere all over the world Even though the microwave was invented a very long time ago it is still used today and is still being improved by technology.
