March 26-27, 2006 R10 Meeting Chiang Mai 3 STUDENT TO MEMBER Each year, a percentage of the student members graduate and are elevated automatically to Member or Associate Member during the year. But a significant number of them fail to pay their dues for the following year and default from membership. This happens again in the subsequent year too.

March 26-27, 2006 R10 Meeting Chiang Mai 4 IEEE HQ Statistics Out of the graduating students in 2003, only 39.8% of them retained membership in 2004. And only 30.6% of them retained membership in the second year 2005. Regionwise stats not available; R10 is likely to be worse than the IEEE average.
