This module will focus on the role of Zone Chairperson as a Member of the District Cabinet. The district cabinet assists the district governor in making administrative plans which affect the success of the International Association of Lions Clubs within the district. Click arrow to advance slide. Clubs District Regions and Zones

It is time to do the math. Click arrow to advance slide. The zone chairperson is expected to be familiar with the 4 – 8 clubs in the zone. The district governor is expected to understand the operations of the 35+ clubs in the district! The district governor will rely on the zone chairperson to provide important details on the operations, successes and challenges of clubs in the zone.

The zone chairperson collaborates with the district governor to ensure clubs in the zone: Are in good standing Are visited more than once annually, which includes the governor’s official visit to the club Conduct service projects in their community and a continuous community public relations program Maintain effective internal communications Demonstrate excellent administrative and financial practices Implement membership recruitment, orientation and retention programs Participate in district, multiple district and international events Take notes on page 2 in your workbook.

As the district governor represents the International Association of Lions Clubs in the district, the zone chairperson both represents and acts on behalf of the clubs in the zone at the district level. As the district governor represents the International Association of Lions Clubs in the district, the zone chairperson both represents and acts on behalf of the clubs in the zone at the district level. The zone chairperson forwards the concerns and suggestions discussed at the district governor’s advisory committee meeting, and shares them with the district cabinet. The zone chairperson also needs to communicate priorities from the district to the clubs in the zone. This will ensure the district objectives and priorities are supported throughout the district.
