Have I thought about the following questions in designing my unit? How do humans impact the Earth? How do systems interact to create change over time?

Preparation Send informational newsletter to parents Review with students: weather concepts related to global warming and greenhouse effects Arrange for technology implementation such as Skype- obtain district permission Review Website bias and computer etiquette with students Arrange for computer lab time Arrange for resources to be checked out through library Create a detailed list of websites for student research Provide information on different roles for students taking on the perspective of special interest groups.

Preparation Continued Think about and create a list of blogging questions to help students remain within time constraints and increase group accountability Contact experts in the field to become guest speakers Arrange for videographer to record summit and microphones for students Invite administrators or other teachers to summit Arrange for field trip and review field trip policy manual (How will this trip support extension of student learning?) Think about arrangement of classroom for summit Create name tags and map to organize summit Go over debate protocol with students. Write Thank you cards

Community Involvement? What are the best resources available to include the community within our own community of science learners? Are any parents experts related to this field? How can we include vertical articulation? Is there a way to involve the elementary and or high school in our learning?
