Colonial Clothing Project

The Research We used the Internet to research what men, women, and children wore in colonial times. We also watched a short video during our research on a colonial child’s clothing. Here is where we did our research http://library.thinkquest.org/J002611 F/clothing.htm?tqskip=1 http://library.thinkquest.org/J002611 F/clothing.htm?tqskip=1 We also read books and viewed pictures of colonial clothing

Dressing the Part We went to colonial Williamsburg site to choose a character to dress online. We learned each of the garments worn and drew our final designs. We learned that the higher up in society, the more clothes you wore! Here is the site we used :http://www.history.org/History/teaching /Dayseries/webactivities/dress/dress.htmhttp://www.history.org/History/teaching /Dayseries/webactivities/dress/dress.htm

Designs to Dress We used the patterns for each piece of clothing and foam bodies. We had many fabrics to choose and viewed Miss Finan’s class from last year’s finished examples to help us.

Our Finished Colonial Dolls We used our research to write stories about our colonial characters during writer’s workshop.
