2 Trades/Farming Apprentice- people who built things Blacksmith- made tools, pans, and were dentists Cooper- made barrels to store things in Farmers- produced items through crops Milliner- woman who made clothing and fabric for clothing Printer- made newspapers Shoemaker- made shoes and struggled to stay in business Silversmith- made silver items Tailor- fitted clothes for people in the colony Wheelwright- made wheels

3 Family Life Usually 6-8 children in one family Miscarriages and stillbirths were common Laziness was considered a sin and everyone had a job/chore to do Men had to hunt for animals and farm Women had to make everything homemade and prepare meals

4 Pastime/Hobbies Children would play games that helped them with running, jumping, and throwing Games for children were made from things they already owned and they had a lot of playmates Adults, if able, would read

6 Relationships Relationships with Indians were good. They exchanged products with one another, sold land to each other, and showed respect.

7 Religion Quakers arrived in 1656 Used as a refuge for persecuted Quakers

8 Education Girls weren’t allowed to attend school unless they were Quakers Schools were religious Schools were small Learned to read from special books called hornbooks

9 Daily Life Farmers took their crops to town to sell The first roads were rough, and when it rained they became muddy, but when they became dry they were uncomfortable to travel on
