From Ignorance to Enlightenment A Christmas Carol entertains its readers with the journey of Ebenezer Scrooge from ignorance (a lack of understanding —in this case, about how to live a good life) to enlightenment (a state of true understanding and knowledge)

Topic is NOT Theme It is easy to confuse a story’s theme with its topic Here’s a way to tell the difference A topic can be summed up into a word or two Taking risks Loyalty friendship A theme is the writer’s message about the topic It usually takes at least one complete sentence to express a theme For example: Life’s biggest rewards come from taking risks.
