Glossary Blade – The flat part of a leaf, takes in a lot of sunlight Bud – A bud is a shoot that is ready to grow into a leaf or flower Node – The place where a leaf, twig, or root comes out of a stem Spines – tiny, sharp thorns on leaves Stem – supports the leaves and flowers and carries water and nutrients from the roots to the leaves and flowers, or stores the water and nutrients until needed Stomata – holes on a leaf that let air into the leaf Veins – lines in the blade that move water through the leaf
