The Teaching-Learning (TL) Maturity Model © D M Dhamdhere, 2014
2
Parameters and Scale A 7-point scale for each parameter –Oblivious (0), –Sparsely / Fully Aware (SA / FA: 1 / 2) –Sparsely / Fully Enabled (SE / FE: 3 / 4) –Sparsely / Fully Integrated (SI / FI: 5 / 6) Teaching scale –Aware: Aware of fundamentals of good teaching –Enabled: Know active learning techniques and course planning –Integrated: Practice active learning techniques and course planning Learning scale –Aware: Aware of fundamentals of good learning –Enabled: Can learn effectively, if made to –Integrated: Will automatically learn effectively
3
Parameters and Scale We would have to decide on the cutoffs for the sparse/full classifications for the awareness, enablement and integration parameters. Sample values Sparse Full Awareness 30-70% >70% Enablement 30-70% >70% Integration 20-60% >60%

TL Maturity Level The teaching-learning (TL) maturity of an educational institution is a pair: teaching level – learning level, where each level is in the 7-point scale TL Maturity level of the institution is indicated by lower number in the pair TL maturity Maturity level 0-0, 1-0 0 1-1, 2-1 1 2-2, 3-2 2 3-3, 4-3 3 4-4, 5-4 4 5-5, 6-5 5 6-6 6

Separate UG and PG maturity? In one year’s experience at FAC, PG students were seen to take more interest in knowing about effectiveness of learning –Hence higher maturity levels could be achieved for PG programmes
