What is ISAIAH? ISAIAH is people of faith acting powerfully in the world, casting a stirring vision of a vital faith community that transforms the dominant culture of despair, scarcity, and fear, with a vision of community, hope, justice, and God’s shared abundance for all people.

El Salvador 200 very wealthy families controlled a country of 5.7 million, mostly poor people. (About same population as Minnesota.) Poor started standing up for their human rights and a civil war broke out 1980 to 1992 75,000 were killed

El Salvador Over 1 million fled the country. Over 1 million homeless 250,000 came to Romero’s funeral. Some say this is the largest gathering, not only in El Salvador’s history, but of ALL Latin America. 30 to 50 people were killed by National Guard at his funeral.

Written in 1987 as a protest against Jimmy Carter’s and Ronald Reagan’s policy of supporting the Aristocracy of El Salvador and supplying the National Guard with weapons and $$. Later, this song became a protest against the violence that grips parts of America. “676,000 will go down in the streets of America, with a bullet, in the next 20 years.” “More body bags than Vietnam.”

“Pull the trigger on the rock and roll [N-word] bigger than Jesus on a bumper sticker.” What does this mean? Many people have misinterpreted John Lennon’s comment: “We’re more popular than Jesus now.” He was criticizing the fans (fanatical) and the media for making them bigger than they ever should have been. [Someday we will listen to Watching the Wheels.] Some members of the FBI wanted Lennon silenced or dead. Bullet the Blue Sky

“What’s my name? What’s my name?!!” Mark Chapman, Mark Chapman, Mark Chapman. The man who killed John Lennon on December 8, 1980. “Love and peace, love and peace...” John and his wife Yoko Ono protested the U.S.’s involvement in the Vietnam war. Bullet the Blue Sky
