Biome Desert

2 What is a desert? Technically, any area that averages less than 10 inches (25 cm) of rain per year. People say that when it is summer the temperature in the deserts get really high and you cant step in the mud because it is burning Deserts is such a difficult places to live in.

3 How dry is a desert? Deserts are usually very dry. Even the wettest deserts get less rain in a year. People say that people die from the temperature in the desert.

4 Types of desert The Sahara is the largest hot desert. These are covered in sand and rock. The Antarctic is actually the Earth’s largest desert. The main form of precipitation in a cold desert is snow -- but only ten inches or less per year.

5 Can any plants grow in a desert?
Deserts is the best home to many animals and plants and other living things. Desert plants look quite different to plant that grow in other places. Scientists say that the plants in the desert are better & grow better than the plants in or homes.

7 Important details of animals that live in the desert
Animals in the desert must survive the intense heat, searing sun, and lack of water. Some animals never drink, but get their water from seeds. Many animals are nocturnal, sleeping during the hot day and only coming out at night to eat and hunt. Some animals rarely spend any time above ground. My information came from

9 Kangaroo Kangaroos are mostly found in Australia. They can jump really high light 60 cm. The adult male Kangaroo is called buck, boomer or jack. Adult females are called doe, flyer or Jill. Young kangaroos are called joeys A group of kangaroos is called a mob.

10 Crocodiles The bite force of a crocodile is more than 5,000 pounds per square inch. Crocodiles have very sharp teeth that help them in tearing and holding onto flesh. Each crocodile jaw has 24 sharp teeth

11 Koala Koala's fur is thick soft and pleasant to touch. Ears have long white hairs on the tips. Koalas can live as long as 17 years, however males life expectancy is less than 10 years

12 Echidna Echidna's lifespan is over 45 years
Echidnas grow up to 50cm (20") in length An echidna can lift objects twice its weight Echidna is slightly less intelligent than a cat

15 Human Activities Human Activities are not only affecting the deserts They are affecting most of the ecosystem. I think humans should be more responsible and careful about their actions.

16 How do human activities affect the desert
By driving their cars on the plants. The cars are affecting the animals and plants so they can die.
