1. SOME SHALL DEPART 1 Timothy 4:1-5 Men will depart from the faith.

2. 1 Timothy 4:1-5 1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Some shall depart 1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. Some are drawn away by temptation Some are never really converted Luke 22:31- 32 31 And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren."

THEY WILL DEPART IN DOCTRINE 1 Timothy 4:1-2a Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, Don't blame God – He speaks clearly Why do some depart? They are deceived by others They seek to change the will of God

5. THEY WILL DEPART IN DOCTRINE Three ways to depart in doctrine 1) Bind what God has not bound – Many make laws that God did not make. 2) Loose what God has bound – Most false doctrine is a result of ignoring or changing the commands of God. 3) Speak with hypocrisy – Lead others to follow a law that you don't follow.

6. THEY WILL DEPART IN CONSCIENCE 1 Timothy 4:2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, Conscience is a trained reflex Teach it wrong – it will react wrongly Seared = scarred, lost ability to be moved, changed, influenced “I don't care what the Bible says.”

7. THEY WILL DEPART IN LIFESTYLE 1 Timothy 4:3-5 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Marriage / Celibacy Eating meats forbidden Thankful for meal not important Animal rights groups (PETA)

8. SOME SHALL DEPART There will always be those who seek to leave the Word of God. 1 Timothy 4 is a warning to us. Have you departed? In Doctrine? In Conscience? In Lifestyle?
