2 NASA Education NASA EPSCoR  Goal  Provide seed funding that will enable states to develop an academic research enterprise directed toward long-term, self-sustaining, nationally competitive capabilities in aerospace research.  Objectives  Contribute to and promote the development of research infrastructure in NASA EPSCoR states in areas of strategic importance to the NASA mission.  Improve the capabilities of the NASA EPSCoR states to gain support from sources outside the NASA EPSCoR program.  Contribute to the overall research infrastructure, science and technology capabilities, higher education, and economic development of the state.  Work in close coordination with the NASA Space Grant program to improve the environment for science, mathematics, engineering, and technology education in the state. 2

4 NASA Education NASA EPSCoR 2006 (Phase III) Research Infrastructure Development Solicitation Enable jurisdictions to build and strengthen relationships and improve contacts with NASA researchers 3-year base period with single 2-year renewable period (total possible 5-year award) 25 jurisdictions eligible 19 @ $125K 6 @ $150K (first year only, newly eligible jurisdictions only) FY 2007-2010 – 25 @ $125K/year Required 1:1 (cash/in-kind) match for every NASA dollar awarded Proposals due February 26, 2007 4
