Proposed Mini Game Ideas

Power Plant Puzzle Starts with a silhouette of a power plant. Student places the pieces into spots which appear correct on the stage. When a piece is placed correctly the player will be asked a question regarding different forms of energy. Completion of the puzzle will trigger animation. Identify different forms of energy

Electricity Adventure Player is taking a trip to the Imagination Station Given 2 paths to choose from: – Renewable Energy Path – Non Renewable Energy Path The radio in the car is tuned to an Energy Education station. – Information dictated by by choice of path Along the ride there will be 5 obstacles – Flat Tire – Overheating – Pot Holes – Etc. How Electricity Can Be Produced From either Renewable or Non-Renewable Energy Resources

Electricity Adventure cont. To bypass the obstacle the player must correctly answer a question. – Question also dictated by the path chosen in the beginning – 2 incorrect submissions results in Game Over. To win you must answer all 5 questions correctly and arrive at the Imagination Station. – Option to post time to leader board

Balloon Game Introduction will show how neutrons and electrons are created in order to make static electricity. – Demonstrate how surfaces such as balloons and hair are ideal for producing static. Game starts with player rubbing a balloon across their character’s hair. – Done by moving mouse back and forth. Competition with an Artificial Intelligence character to see who can produce the most static electricity. Generate as much static electricity as possible in 15 seconds. Describe that electrical current in a circuit can produce thermal energy, light, sound, or magnetic forces.

Balloon Game cont. After generating the static electricity, Player 1 will poke the AI character. If Player 1 generates more static electricity, the AI character’s hair will frizz. If Player 1 generates an extreme amount of energy the AI character will char. If the AI character produces more electricity than Player 1 loses.

Magnetic Maze Introduction describes interaction of magnetic poles. Player starts with a grid of magnets. – Can start from any point on the grid, but end point must be directly opposite. Objective is to create a connection through the grid by matching opposite poles in a given timeframe. – Each time you click a magnet it is rotated 90˚ – Connections made will be indicated by illuminating the magnets and changing their color. Player can earn bonus points by keeping up with an accelerated pace. Describe that electrical current in a circuit can produce thermal energy, light, sound, or magnetic forces.

Energy Enemies Player is moving through a building while being approached by household “energy enemies” – Refrigerator – Computer – Etc. Before you begin player chooses weapon against energy and ammo type: – Renewable or Non-renewable – Can only choose 1 ammo per round All ammo types result in same amount of damage to the enemy. – Renewable ammo lasts longer allowing the player to advance to the end. Explain that the energy derived from renewable resources such as wind and water is assumed to be available indefinitely
