Arthritis- cause pain and loss of movement of the joints Osteoarthritis- disease of the joints in which cartilage breaks down. In time it may wear completely causing bones to rub against each other. Rheumatoid Arthritis- characterized by the debiltating destruction of the joints due to inflammation. 3 times more common in women than in men. Symptoms first appear between ages of 20 and 50. It is an autoimmune disease. Effects are usually symmetrical.
