Introduction of Coaches ► Seth Rhine – Head Coach ► Assistant Coaches Jed Hixson – Varsity assistant coach Bryan Tolbert – Asst. Varsity & Head JV Coach Derek Mobley – Pitching instructor for all levels Jimmy Jarrett – Head 9 th grade Coach Tim Maloney – Roving instructor

Our Goals as Coaches ► Be clear about our goals to our players We attempt to relay our philosophy to ensure everyone is on the same page ► Consistently improve throughout the season ► Stages of the season First 5 to 7 games – put people in various roles, tend to see a little more rotation Next 8 games before region – trying to find best lineups Region season – playing the people that we think gives us the best chance to win

Expectations of Coaches ► Create an atmosphere of respect and honesty ► Quality instruction in every aspect of the game ► Proper behavior and modeling of the behavior we expect from players ► Efforts to consistently improve the lives of our players

Expectations from Players ► Respect for the Grayson Program and everyone associated with the program A sense of pride concerning Grayson Baseball Always “wearing” and representing Grayson Baseball ► Willingness to sacrifice a little bit of themselves A desire to be a part of something more important than a single player ► Being accountable to their teammates, coaches, and parents ► A punctuality and readiness to work every day

Expectations from Parents ► Positive support of the players in the program ► Understanding of the goals of the program ► Respect for the time everyone sacrifices ► Honesty and openness of concerns and issues ► Supporting the Grayson Program within the community

What are we looking for from potential players? ► A solid natural skill set Strong arm, quickness and speed, solid frame and potential for growth ► Demonstration of baseball skills Swing, fielding ground balls, too many examples to list ► Understanding of the game and situational knowledge ► Can they be coached?

Summer Baseball ► Vital part of developing a consistent program ► Older team (rising 11 th and 12 th graders) 6 weekends of baseball 2 out of town trips First team camp at a local university ► Younger team (rising 10 th graders) 6 weekends of baseball Mainly local games ► Both levels play nearly 30 to 35 games

Goals: This year and Beyond This Year ► Win region ► Show continuous improvement ► Continue the success of our younger programs Beyond ► Establish ourselves as perennial contenders Always fighting for respect ► Strive to be the most successful male program at Grayson ► Continue to make baseball a source of pride

“Serious Stuff” ► Bats – must be minus 3 differential BESR certified Strongly encourage wooden (composite) for practice ► Physicals – must have before one can participate in conditioning and tryouts ► Shoes- don’t purchase before you make the team ► Spring Break Varsity plays 3 region games that week ► IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE HERE DURING SPRING BREAK, DO NOT TRYOUT JV and 9 th grade is off until the Thursday of spring break

Upcoming Dates of Interest ► January 26 th (Saturday) – Field workday 9:00am start, parents and players ► First Day of Conditioning - Jan. 28 th ► February 4 th – 9 th Tryouts ► February 12 th – “Meet the Rams” night Booster club dues, food, and merchandise ► Feb. 26 th – Varsity v. Loganville 5:30pm ► Feb. 28 th – 9th opens @ Heritage ► March 7 th – JV opens @ Dacula

CONDITIONING & TRYOUT INFORMATION ► Conditioning Strongly Encouraged 3 days for 45 minutes All players need to be there Only players with physical can participate 2:20 to 3:05 next M / T and Thursday ► Tryouts (Feb. 4 th – 9 th ) ► All levels will tryout together ► Cuts will be made from day 1 ► Final teams selected by the 9 th

Workday Information ► Saturday, Jan. 26 th @ 9:00am ► Purpose of workday Finish many of the small improvements Move lots of dirt!!! Clean and beautify surrounding areas Get facilities ready for tryouts and opening day ► What we need on the workday Lots of shovels, wheel-barrows, people, dirt tiller, and job specific materials (depends on the task) Put name on anything you bring

Improvements since last season ► Sponsor Board ► Stadium Seating 2 rows, 45 total seats ► Awning over player’s entrance ► Bricked backstop w/ 30 foot poles ► To be coming soon: Great question Blocked wall down the foul territories Wooden wall ?

How can we get this done? ► Support of community and parents Money, time, resources are just the beginning Merchandise and donations ► Financial means Best way is the free way (donations) Fundraisers ► Sponsor Boards ► Possible Bowling tournament ► Throw-a-thon ► Booster club dues

Between now and Feb. 4 th ► Throw and throw and throw Not enough time to get arms into shape if you start at tryouts ► Hit, mainly T work, soft-toss, and cages Tryout time is limited ► Be in shape At least be able to make it around field ► Understand what is at stake
