Body Paragraph: The job of each body paragraph is to support the thesis. Each body paragraph MUST connect to the thesis. If a paragraph does not support the thesis, it has no place in your essay.
2
Topic Sentence: What is this paragraph about? Summarize the main idea of that paragraph. The topic sentence should tie back to the thesis statement. It is obvious that Robert was successful in the play.
3
Details: List and explain details that help to prove your thesis statement. The bully left Robert alone. Robert’s teacher mentioned that his performance was “almost perfect”.
4
Wrap-up Finish each body paragraph with a closing thought on the details. Robert did well in the play, but most importantly, he was proud of himself.
5
Put that all together! It is clear that Robert was successful in the play. One example of Robert’s success is the fact that Belinda Lopez, the school bully, left Robert alone after his performance. Also, Mrs. Bunnin, Robert’s teacher, commented that Robert’s acting was practically flawless. Obviously, Robert did well in the play, but most importantly, he was proud of himself.
