Character Changes It is important to think about the main characters traits throughout the story. Sometimes the character feels scared at the beginning and then feels brave at the end of the story. A character can also change how he or she acts in the story. The character may act like a bully, but then changes and is kind.

Look for clues to help you figure out words you don’t understand. Good readers look for clues in the text to help them figure out words they don’t understand. Where are the clues? Good readers look at the words and sentences around the word they don’t understand.
