Saint Cecilia of Rome By Michaela Posar
2
Early life! Cecilia was born in 177 AD (no one can find the actual date as it was too long ago that they didn’t really collect records). She was an only child living in a very rich family. She was very close to God at a very young age.

Cecilia was a Christian from birth and is now a catholic
Cecilia was a Christian from birth and is now a catholic. Since she was a child she would pray both day and night for forgiveness of her sins and pray for people in need.

A bit later on…. Cecilia had a life full of prayer and meditation. She played her instruments everyday and loved to sing. She also loved to dance! She always helped the less fortunate and taught them about faith. Unfortunately Cecilia was forced into marriage.
5
Death Because Cecilia was secretly teaching the less fortunate about faith the Governor sentenced her to death. She was sentenced to be suffocated in the baths. After one day the soldiers came back in and Cecilia had survived. So they sentenced her to be beheaded, after the executer had struck three times at her head he ran away. She survived two days but then passed way in pain.
6
When she was canonized Cecilia was not canonized as they had not brought in canonization until Anyone who died for Christ was named a Saint.

Why I chose Saint Cecilia
I chose Saint Cecilia because she is the patron Saint of musicians. I love music so I thought she was perfect for me. She is a Roman Saint and I love Rome. I was also very inspired about how she survived that tragic sentence to death. (I also love the name)
