St. Patrick Christian and is the patron saint of Ireland Patrick was born in Roman Britain. Sixteen he was captured by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years. Patrick worked as a herdsman, remaining a captive for six years. He writes that his faith grew in captivity, and that he prayed daily

St. Patrick’s Day in the USA New York The first parade held to honor St. Patrick took place in U.S. and not in Ireland? On March 17 in 1762, Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New Your City. Along with their music, the parade helped the soldiers reconnect with their Irish roots, as well as with fellow Irishmen serving in the English army. The floodlights on the Empire State Building shine green for St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day in the USA Chicago Dyeing of the Chicago River in green. This practice started in 1962, when city pollution-control workers used dyes to trace illegal sewage discharges. In the beginning they released 100 pounds, but today they use only 40 pounds of green vegetable dye. This amount turns river in green for several hours.

St. Patrick’s Day in the USA Seattle People in Seattle really know how to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. They organize a full week of activities. They even have a mini- parade to prepare the parade route with the ceremonial painting of a green stripe down the center of 4th Avenue. The day of the parade annually begins with a Catholic Mass for peace.

St. Patrick’s Day in Arab Dubai Dubai Irish Society celebrates St. Patrick’s Day by organizing a St. Patrick’s Ball. Usually is held in one of the hotels, where people can enjoy in Irish music, food and good old Irish beer and whiskey.
