KEY CONCEPTS EARTH,MOON,SUN are apart of our solar system. Gather information through observations Experiments need to be reproducible

RECORD OBSERVATIONS about reason for: Daylight length Year Length Seasons Moon Phases

Discovery Video Clip

Activity Read Tyler’s Notebook Entry Then discuss ideas about his observations In Journal: What is the evidence Tyler has? How did he obtain evidence?

Pre-Class Wed. 9/14 How does the movement of earth relate to the length of day and year on earth?

Write in your notebook.. Earth orbits the Sun! Earth Turns on its axis once every 24 hours to give one day. A year is the time it takes earth to orbit the sun once.

Vocabulary Earth’s Axis- Imaginary line earth rotates around Day- Time it takes the earth to rotate around once. Year- Time it takes the earth to orbit the sun once.

9/14 Wednesday: In Journal: Talking it over Part I A.) Why do you think Tyler’s shady spot keeps moving? B.) During a single day have you every noticed your shadow or change in position of it?

Talking it over Part II A.) Based on the data Tyler collected, how could he improve his summary of results? B.)How could Tyler improve his data collection?

Complete Analysis Questions for Homework- Put in binder

Notecards 1. Write one thing that you learned 2. Write something that was confusing or you want to know more about

Introduction to Sun’s Shadow Lab Materials Propose a step by step procedure for how you could use these materials measure the sun’s shadow?

High Sun, Low Sun

Develop Sun Shadows Class Procedure

Pre-Class What kind of things make up the universe? How is the universe held together?
