Work to date BT contribution to WISDOM in the second semester was for WP3 - New Security Algorithm Design Task 3.2 – “This task will investigate existing, and generate novel techniques of simplified pattern matching which will allow the optical hardware to be used for more complex pattern recognition “ Produced review of Packet Searching, algorithmic and architectural solutions as initial contribution to Task 3.2: Packet Searching techniques: IP lookup, Packet classification, Pattern matching Software-based packet searching: Single and multi-string algorithms Hardware-based packet searching: TCAM, ASIC, FPGA, Multi-processors Intrusion Detection packet searching approaches: Trie-based, Hash-based, and Heuristic-based algorithms Approximated approaches: Bloom filters-based mechanisms

Plans for second year’s work BT planned contribution to WISDOM in the second year is in WP3 - New Security Algorithm Design Further contribute to task 3.2 with following objectives: - refine existing solutions’ review document - identify most suitable representation of signature rules in memory database - identify most appropriate algorithm for searching through such database, accounting for rule-set characteristics - participate to optical device simulation modelling activities
