EANGUS Situation During the 43th Annual National Conference in Phoenix, AZ it was recommended by the Time and Place Committee to give partial or full control of the National Conference to the Host State, along with not be required to utilize a outside agency like a Helms Briscoe to work any or all contracted items. Changes to the National Conference will not impact any currently contracted Conferences. No changes will take affect until 2018.

3. EANGUS Background Due to financial constraints to State Associations it was recommend to the Executive Council for EANGUS to take over all financial liability and responsibilities of a National Conference. This change took affect in 2008 at the 35 th National Conference in Savanna, Georgia.

4. EANGUS Background In 2005 Hurricane’s Katrina and Rita struck the Gulf Coast of the United States. One of the most impacted States was the State of Mississippi whom was schedule to host the 33 rd National Conference in Gulfport, MS in 2006. Due to major infrastructure impacts of these Hurricanes the State was unable to host this event and the event was moved to Salt Lake City, UT. As a gesture of good will the company of Helms Briscoe wanted to help and assisted with all contracts from Gulfport to Salt Lake City. Helms Briscoe provided this service at no charge to EANGUS and has continued to provide this same free service to this date.

12. EANGUS Recommendation Shared Control between EANGUS and the Host State is the recommended Course of Action to the Executive Council and the Association. This COA allows EANGUS to only accept the financial liability of the meeting space, exhibit program and VIP and EANGUS select lodging. Revenue would only be generated by the exhibitor program. Income would be slower over time, but less year to year risk. Host States get the opportunity to make money and manage event to the strengths of their association and community.
