1
LHCb computing in Russia Russia-CERN JWGC, March 2007
2
Current status (from GOC) Russian distributed Tier-2 cluster permanently participates in LHCb activities (~25% of CPU in Russia)
3
LHCb computing in Russia 2002130K events, 1% contribution 20031.3M events, 3% contribution 20049.0M events, 5% contribution 20055.0M events, 3% contribution 2006 3.5M events, 2% contribution now – about 1% Expect huge increase in nearest weeks (month)
4
Physics interests of Russian scientists: Studies of CP violation with B and D hadrons Rare (forbidden) decays of B and D hadrons Radiative penguin decays pf B mesons (non SM physics) Spectroscopy of B hadrons High P t jets (W and Z bosons, t quarks, Higgs) Russian institutes in LHCb: IHEP,INP,INR,ITEP,PNPI LHCb computing in Russia
5
CP effects are “small” – LHCb needs huge MC samples to understand backgrounds and to control systematic errors (especially in first years of operation) LHCb peculiarity Tier2s are responsible for MC production (vital task for collaboration)
