2. Purpose  The IPhone 4 and 4s have an inherent problem of their screens and back plates cracking.  The screens crack because of sudden shock to the brittle glass that’s used for the screen and back plate.  My design incorporates aerospace materials to absorb the shock caused by falls and drops.  My design is also less intrusive and bulkier than other cases because of the materials its made out of.

3. Design  The design of my case is meant to be as intrusive as possible. Adding only 4 ± 2 thousandths of an inch to the overall thickness of the iPhone.  This design is accomplished by the use of aerospace materials and a lamination process to the phone.

4. Materials  The main material of the case is carbon fiber that has been cured into very thin sheets.  A very thin sheet of Lexan is also added to cover the screen to protect it from scratches and sudden shock that may cause cracking.  A rubber adhesive is applied between the carbon fiber plates that cover the glass to attach them and still be removable.
