NEW STUDENT PROGRAMS Course Structure Classes meet all 14 weeks of the semester Twice a week for the first 7 weeks Once a week for the last 7 weeks All classes are 50 minutes long

PI doesn’t feel he/she has a voice PI given too much or too little responsibility Be mindful of times PI is busy (midterms, big projects, papers, etc.) Lack of communication No clear responsibilities Ice breakers/team builders Attendance Grading Lessons-who is doing what part Different teaching styles Go with the flow, or Planned and organized

NEW STUDENT PROGRAMS Ways to Ensure a Beautiful Partnership Be honest with your PI about your teaching style Weekly meetings Time to plan and communicate clearly FI and PI should leave knowing their “to-do’s” Have a plan A, B, C (and maybe even D) Check-in with your PI What do you want to gain from this experience? How are you feeling? Getting enough “spotlight” time in the classroom? Any concerns? What can we BOTH do to a come to a compromise? Draw from one another’s experiences
