Byrd Glacier, Antarctica Acquisition Date: Jan 11, 2000 Path/Row: 44/118 Lat/Long: -80.022/168.637 Byrd Glacier is a 15 mile wide, 100 mile long, rock-floored ice stream located in southern Antarctica. This long, unique ice feature plunges through a deep valley in the Transatlantic Mountains and into the Ross Ice Shelf. This ice stream speeds as a river of ice at a rate of one half mile per year.
