5. Notes You can have a ‘fade from’ just as you can a ‘fade to’ (e.g. FTB is a fade to black, FFW is a fade from white). The difference between a fade and a dissolve is that with a dissolve the next bit of footage appears immediately. Special effects edits can include such diverse items as models, animatronics and digital painting. We say that any of the effects or transitions applied are in post-production (i.e. after the filming has been completed) Editing
