Getting access to resources you have 24 hour access to the Library’s electronic resources you can log in at home, work, the Library, Business Faculty labs, UTS computer labs how? You need to activate your UTS webmail username and password https://email.itd.uts.edu.au/email/ https://email.itd.uts.edu.au/email/ then use the username and password to access the Library

Use the Library catalogue

Finding books use Title in the Library catalogue to find known items. E.g. type “Deconstructing sport history” use Keyword to find items on a topic. E.g. type “global culture” in the keyword search you can request a city copy to be sent to Kuring-gai for pick up

Using many databases do not hold the full text of an article use the link to find it on another UTS subscription database it will take you to the article if UTS has a subscription

Tips on research topic searches break your topic up into keywords to find articles, reports and information use synonyms i.e. backpacker or budget travel or hostels limit your research to recent articles

What are refereed journals? refereed journals have an editorial board to approve publication, a reference list and up to date contact details they are also known as peer reviewed articles

Database search techniques use the connecting words and/or the truncation symbol * enables a word to be searched by its stem, eg. manag* searches for manage, manager, management, etc. the wildcard symbol ? ensures different spellings are searched, eg. Globali?ation searches for globalisation (AUS) or globalization (USA)
