History/Membership Founded in 1919 to serve world business by promoting trade and investment, open markets for goods and services and the free flow of capital. The largest most represenitive business organization in the world. There are two ways to become a member of ICC: 1. Through affiliation with an ICC national committee or group. 2. By direct membership with the ICC International Secretariat when a national committee/group has not yet been established in your country/territory.

Controversy The ICC is often placed in the role of arbitrator to settle disputes, and sets as well as advocates for occasionally controversial policies. Often, members of local Chambers of Commerce are forced to make controversial calls in order to make the area a better place to live.
