14 © 2015 ELLUCIAN. CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY | Session 12849 What are Pseudo Courses? Pseudo courses can be used for different reasons: They can be used to award a student credit for a transfer course which is not a direct course-for-course equivalent. They can be used as a placeholder course in Student Planning to represent a requirement in which the student has a choice between courses/electives.

17 © 2015 ELLUCIAN. CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY | Session 12849 Best Practices for Building Pseudo Courses Build your Pseudo Courses on a spreadsheet. Discuss and decide on course numbering, course titles, descriptions, requisites, etc. Be consistent. Consider whether or not you want to include these Pseudo Courses in the Course Catalog search in Student Planning. If you decide to hide these Pseudo Courses in the Course Catalog, remember to create the “Do Not Show” value on Course Types and assign it to your Pseudo Courses to suppress them. Test! Test! Test!
