Directions for Creating Columns Read your information about your emperor. Take historical facts in your notebook. Inscriptions Inscriptions appear on the emperor’s column along with formal visuals. 1.Select the 3 most significant accomplishments of your chosen emperor to create inscriptions for him on his column. These inscriptions should be complete sentences that clearly explain what the emperor accomplished and how. Ex: “He provided more jobs for Roman citizens by limiting the use of slavery in rural areas.” 2.The inscriptions must be accompanied by visuals that represent the inscriptions and look similar to the carvings on real Roman columns. They should have a formal look to them.

Graffiti Graffiti appears on the base of the column. It is not as formal; its visuals are crudely drawn. 3.Select 2 failures of your emperors and criticize them using short phrases or provocative statements for graffiti. You should use emotional language to convey how his failures have hurt the Roman people. Ex: “We will not be ruled by kings!” 4.The graffiti must be accompanied by crudely drawn visuals that represent the emotions of the statement. These visuals are not as formal and should be more crudely drawn. Be creative! Have fun!
