6. This story happened in the Starkfield a city of England. Narrator tells story. He had to stay Starkfield during a hard winter. He saw Ethan Frome and was very interest to know about Ethan Frome.

7. The narrator hires Ethan Frome as his driver for a week. One night in a hurricane Ethan Frome take narrator to his home for shelter.

8. The second chapter flashes back twenty years. Mattie (his wife’s cousin) lives with Ethan and his wife Zeena to help since Zeena is sickly.

12. The next day, Ethan goes to find one bottle of glue to repair the dish. He goes back to the farm and tells Mattie that he found the glue to fix dish. Mattie tells that Zeena has come back and is upstairs.

13. Zeena tells him that she has hired a new girl to replace Mattie. Ethan says that there is not enough money to hire a new girl, although he is angry and goes downstairs to Mattie for dinner. He tells Mattie.

14. Zeena comes down to eat dinner and discovers the broken dish.

15. Ethan wishes to run away with Mattie, but realizes that Zeena would be left with nothing and have no money to support Mattie.

16. Ethan takes Mattie to the train station Ethan and Mattie confess their love

17. Ethan and Mattie decide to sleigh ride down a dangerous trail.

18. Mattie and Ethan agree to die together. At the last minute, they hit the tree, but both survive.

19. The story ends 20 years later. Zeena must care Mattie and Ethan.
