3. 14.2 Seasons of Competition: Five-Year Rule Student-athletes should complete his/her seasons of participation within 5 calendar years beginning the semester in which the SA 1 st registered for a minimum full-time program of study in a collegiate institution. 4. 14.2.3 Criteria for Determining Season of Eligibility Any competition, regardless of time, during a season in an intercollegiate sport shall be counted as a season of competition in that sport. 5. 14.2.3.2 Tennis SAs must enroll in an institution within 1 year of the graduation date of their high school class. Their 5-year clock will begin after that year and if participation occurs during that year in an organized event they will be required to fulfill a 1 year residency requirement before becoming eligible for intercollegiate competition. 9. 14.3.1.2.1 Core-Curriculum Time Limitation PSA must complete core curriculum courses prior the date of high school graduation. 12. 13. 14.3.3 Seasons of Competition— Non-Qualifier A non-qualifier shall not engage in more than 3 seasons of competition in any 1 sport. Transfers from another collegiate institution shall not engage in more that 4 seasons of competition with no more than 3 of those seasons in Division I. 14. 14.3.5.1 Participation Prior to Certification (Freshmen) Recruited SA may practice, but not compete for a max of 14 days prior to the certification of their academic requirements by the NCAA (Do Clearinghouse EARLY– was 45 days in Division II). 15. 14.4 Progress Towards Degree (PTD) To be eligible to represent an institution in intercollegiate athletics competition, a student-athlete shall maintain progress toward a baccalaureate or equivalent degree at that institution. 17. 14.4.3.1.3 Regaining Eligibility if do not meet 24 semester hour requirement prior to start of 2 nd year A SA that does not meet their 24 semester credit-hour requirement prior to their 2 nd year of collegiate enrollment may become eligible at the beginning of the next academic term by successfully completed 24 semester-hours during the previous 2 semesters (spring, summer, fall combo). A SA that does not meet their 24 semester credit-hour requirement prior to their 2 nd year of collegiate enrollment may become eligible at the beginning of the next academic term by successfully completed 24 semester-hours during the previous 2 semesters (spring, summer, fall combo). 18. 14.4.3.1.5 Designation of Degree Program A SA shall declare a major by the beginning of the 3 rd year of enrollment and make progress towards that declared degree. 19. 14.4.3.1.6 Hours Accepted for Degree Credit During the 1 st two years of enrollment, SA may use credits earned toward any degree program offered at the certifying institution. 21. 14.4.3.2.3 Timing of Certification If a SA is ineligible under the provisions of PTD legislation at the beginning of that term, eligibility may be reinstated at the beginning of any other term in that academic year. 23. 14.5 Transfer Regulations 14.5.1 Residence Requirement 14.5.1 Residence Requirement –A SA who transfers to a member institution from any collegiate institution is required to complete one academic year of residence at the certifying institution before being eligible to compete for or to receive travel expenses, unless the SA satisfies transfer requirements or receives an exception or waiver.

Exception: Baseball & Basketball - a SA who is not a qualifier who satisfies the provisions of Bylaw 14.5.5.2, but initially enrolls at the certifying institution as a full-time student after the 1 st term of the academic year, shall not be eligible until the ensuing academic year (fall semester). 26. 14.5.4.2 Use of Hours Earned During the Summer for a two-year transfer who was a non-qualifier Not more than a total of 18-semester hours of the transferable degree credit may be earned during the summer terms, and not more than 9-semester hours may be earned during the summer term immediately prior to the transfer. 27. 14.5.4.5.5 Transfer of 2 year transfer to SIUE Prior to Completion of Requirements If a 2-year SA transfers to SIUE prior to the completion of applicable transfer requirements, the student is subject to the 1-year residence requirement at the certifying institution, even if a SA transfers back to the 2-year college and completes the necessary requirements. 28. 14.5.4.5.6.1 Temporary Certification, Recruited 2-Year College Transfer A 2-year college transfer may practice for 14 days at the certifying institution prior to the certification of their academic record (must get transcripts in ASAP). 29. 14.5.5 4-Year College Transfers 14.5.5.1 General Rule 14.5.5.1 General Rule –A 4-4 transfer shall not be eligible for intercollegiate competition at a member institution until the SA has fulfilled a residency requirement of 1 full academic year at the certifying institution. 14.5.5.1.1 Attendance for 1 Academic Year 14.5.5.1.1 Attendance for 1 Academic Year –A 4-4 transfer who attended a 4-year institution at least 1 academic year shall be eligible for financial aid and practice at a member institution under the rules of the institution and the conference which the institution is a member, regardless of the student’s qualification status at the time of initial enrollment.

30. 14.5.5.1.2 Attendance for Less Than 1 Academic Year A 4-4 transfer SA who was not a qualifier and who attended a 4-year institution less than 1 academic year shall not be eligible for competition during the 1 st academic year of attendance at the certifying institution. 32. 14.5.5.2.10 One-Time Transfer Exception – MOST USED EXCEPTION BY 4-4 All of the following conditions must be met. All of the following conditions must be met. –A student is a participant in a sport other than M/W Basketball & Baseball. –The SA has not transferred previously from another four year instititution. –SA would have been in good academic standing and made progress towards degree had he/she remained at the previous institution. –SA’s previous institution must certify in writing that they have no objection.

33. 14.5.5.4 Eligibility for Athletically Related Aid A 4-4 transfer may receive athletically related financial aid during his 1 st academic year at the certifying institution if he/she would have been academically eligible to compete during the next regular academic term had the student remained at the previous institution and permission to speak was granted. 34. Bylaw 14.5.6 - 4-2-4 College Transfers A 4-2-4 SA must complete one academic year of residence at the certifying institution prior to engaging in intercollegiate competition unless: A 4-2-4 SA must complete one academic year of residence at the certifying institution prior to engaging in intercollegiate competition unless: –Completed 12-semester hours of transferable credit with a min. gpa of 2.0 for each semester of full-time enrollment at the 2-year college after transfer from the 4-year college. –1 calendar year has elapsed since the students departure from the previous 4-year college. –Student has graduated from the 2-year college. 36. Transfer Prior to Completion of 4-2-4 requirements All transfer requirements must be met (except calendar-year time lapse) BEFORE the SA’s initial enrollment at the second 4-year college. 37. 14.7 Outside Competition, Effects on Eligibility – Sports other than Basketball 14.7.1 Outside competition-Sports other than Basketball 14.7.1 Outside competition-Sports other than Basketball –A SA who participates during the academic year as a member of any outside team in any non-collegiate, amateur competition becomes ineligible for intercollegiate competition. A SA is allowed to practice on such a team.

39. 14.7.2 Outside Competition, Basketball A SA who participates in any organized basketball competition except while representing the institution in intercollegiate competition in accordance with the permissible playing season becomes ineligible for any further intercollegiate competition in basketball.
