How did the Treaty of Versailles and world-wide depression impact Europe in the years between World War I and World War II?

3 Treaty of Versailles - Peace talks began in January 1919 at the Palace of Versailles outside of Paris. - Germany was a huge loser in the Treaty. (Left to right) The “Big Four”: David Lloyd George of Britain, Vittorio Orlando of Italy, Georges Clemenceau of France, and Woodrow Wilson of the United States, the principal architects of the Treaty of Versailles. 4 Treaty of Versailles After the war, Europe’s economy was wrecked and everyone blamed Germany. Germany had to give up some of its land and pay reparations, or war damages, to the Allies. Reparations totaled 33 billion dollars Germany also had to eliminate most of its military

5 Treaty of Versailles - The Treaty of Versailles was meant to humiliate Germany and its people. - It also made it impossible for the German people to try and rebuild their economy and their country. - In the end the Treaty of Versailles did little to help Europe. It angered the Germans and helped Hitler rise to power in a few years.
