Names of God El Qanna

Introduction God is not only worthy of the worship of all mankind, but He expects and demands it.

When He does not receive our proper worship, He is Jealous.

He is jealous because He desires our fellowship. The primary way we fellowship with God is through worship.

We worship Him by humbly bowing, praising, and exalting our Jealous God.

I. God’s name Jealous is used most often with reference to false gods

A. God’s law forbids worship of idols (Exodus 20:3-6)

B. Moses was told to destroy every false altar and idol (Exodus 34:1-17)

C. God is angry when His people go after false gods (Deut. 4:23 / 6:14-15 Joshua 24:19-20)

II. How are we to worship a jealous God

A. We are to worship Him in full awareness of His jealousy and power (I Cor. 10:20-22) “Parazeloo” Greek = excite a rivalry

B. We are to worship Him personally (John 4:21-24) pros-koo-neh'-o Greek = a dog licking his masters hand, prostrate oneself in homage

C. We are to worship Him corporately (Psalm 22:22; 95:1-3) Praise in Hebrew [haw-lal‘] = to shine, to show, to boast of

Worship is not a Sunday thing, but an everyday thing!

2Co 2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

Our God becomes jealous when we put anything before Him … at any time!
